trailer plans advice

looking to beg borrow or steal some advice or suggestions for a trailer to haul shipping containers. a really low budget operation, my sons idea. need to incorporate flatfloor and legal width, what wt axles and keep as light as possible. CC

A lot of variables that we dont know. What size container? Empty or loaded? Pulling it with what? Loading the container how? What distances?
Kinda makes a difference.

Only advice I can give is if you can buy what you need don't mess around with building. No money to be saved by building yourself.

If you are looking to pull with a small Semi tractor the regular undercarriages with work the best.

How will you load and unload them? You can haul them on a regular flat if your going to lift them off. Just put a heavy angle on each side to slide on if you need to slide them off. For sliding them on you will need some sort of tilt. Built a couple of them with tilt beds back in the day. Don't think I have any pics of those tho. Dart does a lot of that now and they have several different types depending on what they are doing.

Simple answer is to buy them delivered, or arrange delivery. Building your own, or buying an old trailer, just to deliver storage to your farm will not be cost effective, not to mention the liability risk or an accident could cost you the entire farm. Tom

this trailer has a 48 foot deck

Unless you're going to buy a bunch of containers it would probably be more cost effective and a heck of a lot easier to have them delivered.
Container prices may be higher here in IL where by the time you buy 3 containers it's cheaper to have a pole building put up.
