trailer tires

i'm on my second set of trailer tires in 2 yrs. both sets of tires have separated. both sets of tires from china i believe. what do you guys like for 7K car trailer tires. thanks

Higher load rating is always good advice.
Just my opinion: most trailer tires are junk unless you spend big bucks. We have 7 or 8 trailers (single axle to tandem w/duals) running several sizes of tires (15-16-16.5). Even the brand name trailer rated tires aren't great. If I can find them, I buy used E/F rated pickup tires for the trailers.

We have 4 trailers here, and use only U S made pickup truck tires, E or F rated. Have had no failures with these tires, in other words "what Mobuck said."

I had a set of "triangle" brand tires on my enclosed trailer for 20 years. Foreign made but there were no signs of cracking up until last year. I never really carried any massively heavy loads with them but I did put quite a few miles on them.

Pickup tires are a good choice. I bought a new trailer with 205 15 a year later they started blowing out. I went to 225 15 10 ply tires and they are good so far

I took off my 20 year old biases tires last summer and installed more biases trailer tires. USA made radials are the only radials I would put on my trailers. I still prefer bias on my trailers

Not on a trailer, but a Truax no till drill that I maintain to local conservation district, drill is heavy need 3/4 ton or larger to pull .. We had trouble with tires until we replaced the tires with 12 ply trailer tires that use 80 psi (15") drill is towed about 600 miles a year.

As some have said, keep tires pressurized as to what is on the sidewall. Underpressurized tires generate more heat, which leads to tire failures.

Note that your 7000# trailer is actually what the two axles, total, are rated for. So, the 7000 minus the weight of the trailer is what the rated cargo of your trailer actually is, so.....generally......around 5500# cargo. Thus....as to what your cargo is, you run that trailer close to its maximum on most loads.

If you will buy LT tires you will not have trouble. They are light truck and 8 ply. Trailer tires are not good tires but most will charge you more than a good tire. LT will run more miles and give very little trouble and not blow out and tear the side off of your trailer.
