trans top on 1170

Can I get the top off of the transmission through the floor plate hole on an 1170 or do I need to remove the operators platform? I need to look at the top shaft and shifter rails.

You can get it without removing the platform. the 7and 8s are much harder to slide out from underneith.

Take the filters off the right side, remove the front right cab (platform) mount, make a "T" handle to screw in the top cover (to lift it up) and then slide it out the right side. Better if you have two people.

I remove the battery box leave the cab mount on and go out the left side. Never tried going out the right side, maybe it is easier. Looks like more stuff in the road on the right. And yes you will want 2 people.
