Transmission oil fill tool

I am looking for an idea that will make adding transmission/rear end oil and grease easer than what I am doing now. Trying to refill the 80-90w in my truck transmission is a nightmare. I was thinking about using a one or two gallon plastic bug sprayer that I could pump up the sprayer and stick the hose in the fill hole. I also would think that a plastic sprayer won’t last long using oil in it. I know you guys have a better idea than a quart bottle that you can not get level with the fill hole let alone inverted do to limited space. I’m low budget. Thanks for you ideas

I've got a plastic pump-up sprayer that came from WaldoWorld that I use to prime the lube systems in rebuilt engines with motor oil.

It's held up for 5 or 6 years with no deterioration of the parts from the oil.

Tranny oil MAY be different and/or the latest "crop" of plastic from "the land of almost right" may not be as good... you're on your own there!

Well.. I have a 5-gallon "bucket pump" I use for this.. but, not for the tranny so much as differentials.

I picked 2 of em up at farm auctions.. I use 1 for 15-40 motor oil (I used to buy 5 gallons off grandpa when they got cen-pe-co, now I just buy 5 gallons at a time from NAPA) and the other for gear oil.

It makes life easier.. I used to drag one to work.. used to run old terra gators.. and it was fun trying to get in to put oil in the trannies on them.. Needed 2 people, 3 feet of hose, and a funnel.. with a pump, one person could do it in half the time.

You can buy an oil gun that can suck up a charge of gear oil from a 5 gal pail and pump it into a trans mission or rear end.Since I had one in 1951 I wonder why you dont have one.

You can use a power brake bleeder- I made mine from an LP tank- bought new so I could weld on it. You need a tube that goes down to the bottom but a top collar that you can apply air through to pressurize the tank. Shutoff valve on top to stop oil flow. Used it on Case 2470 to fill differentials- very small fill holes took forever. I just filled tank with required amount, and left it to do other stuff.

You need a Sta-Lube fluid oil pump marketed by CRC. Plastic pump, fits in a gallon jug of gear oil in the place of the cap, its a pump with a clear hose and a hose end that locks into the threads of a standard trans or differential filler hole. They are about $5-$7 each and I keep several on hand. Use one to pump bar/chain oil for the saw, and another one for ATF fluid for my Ranger stick shift that uses ATF and one in gear oil for differentials.

Not expensive, not fancy.

Follow the link to see what I'm talking about.

I have a 5 gallon pail I drill a 3/4 inch hole and insert a hose, with air nozzle I blow air into the pail until the lid buldges. This workes best with 2 people. If you can find one of those soda fountain cans (the ones that are high pressure(we could buy them on surplus somtimes)They are made for about 70psi.We drilled and taped the lid for a hose and put a metal valve stem in and used it for brinning hams but if I find another tank that will be my gear oil filler. At 50psi oil would move pretty fast.
