Transmission

I am trying to put the shifting forks back in on a 190XT Series III and I am having issues. Can someone tell me the easiest way to get these to match up on the transmission?

IDK about a 190, but on a WD it works better to have transmission and tower in reverse.

I&T manual says to put it in 2nd gear

I have put it in second gear and was still having problems. Just to make sure I have put the stick in second gear position. How do you know what position to put the gears in?

I have had it in every position. The manual says to put it in 2nd gear. Everytime you go to put it in the gears move.

ID the second gear- the one the shift fork engages. Move it the opposite direction that the shift lever moves. ie, on a WD, when you shift into reverse, the lever goes to the rear, so the sliding gear needs to be pushed forward.
