i have been restoring my wifes grandfathers 1941 9n ford tractor and i am getting ready to change all the fluid. the tsc flyer shows their "premium universal transmisson/hydraulic tractor fluid" is on sale for 29.95 after looking at the "50 tips" website it calls for traveller gl-1 is what they have on sale allright to use in my n thanks

the gl1 is a 90w gear oil. you can use a 90w gear oil meeting gl 1-3 or a gl4/5 if it is yellow metal safe ( usually carries a MT-1 ) rating.

or you can use the UTF fluids meeting M2C134D ( tsc utf meets that spec.

If your lift is weak or leaks.. the thicker oil may help it.. if you are in cold arctic areas.. you will get less gear drag, oil coupling, and faster cold hyds with the UTF fluid.

your choice. the utf is 30$ here right now as well.

either work.. neither will hurt your lift/trans/diffy.

your choice.

TSC had buckets of old Ford Hydrolic oil (Mineral Oil 90 wt). I picked one up a few weeks ago for $20. I think they may be discontinuing carrying it. Napa also carries an equivalent oil.

Yep, I think TSC has stopped the mineral oil operation. About six months ago our TSC had "clearance" marked all over the old mineral oil. I bought a bucket.

i'll have to check my local store.. if on clearance I'll get a few pails.

thanks for the heads up.
