Trouble with Solo back pack sprayer?

I have a piston pump style back pack sprayer that is not building very much pressure. I turned the dial(pressure regulator) inside the tank and that didn't help. I then took off the lid and pumped it and water was coming out of the top of the regulator. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with it?

Thanks,
Bobg

I have one of those but never had a problem so just guessing ...

I'd say you have a clog somewhere between the pressure tank and the discharge at the nozzel.

Do you still have your manual which came with the sprayer. Order department # is 757-245-5531, they are in Newport News, VA. You may be able to get one online.

Any way the seal in the botom of the pistion should be greased - vasoline or other water resistant grease. You may need to replace the seal.

These are good backpack sprayers - we have 8- the oldest is made in West Germany. We tried the knock off sprayers - there is no comparison.
Although there is a new one from somewhere else in the shed I just noticed. I'll have to see where it is from - Dad must have got it at a trade show.

Hi Grant,

I went to your web site and for the life of me I couldn't find any info about where your farm is.

Your "Contact Us" page would not come up.

Though maybe Massachusetts or Wisconsin but you have "ca" in your e-mail address(es) so now I'm thinking California? You got enough water in California to harvest cranberries?

Hi Tim, You are absolutly right, the contact us page does not work - I'll get my wife on that right away. Also it should say where we are on the farm page, but again it doesn't. I'm also not so sure about the kilted men - I gather that is supposed to be me for The Vancouver Island Tour of Farms. Again, I will speak to wifey and find out what she's up to.

Anyway, my farm - Yellow Point Cranberries is on Vancouver Island, BC. May parents farm is in Richmond, a suburb of Vancouver, that's where I am currently typing from.

It might need a new seal. Solo are one of the best sprayers you can get. They're all plastic so they will work with roundup. The original ones are from Geermany. They do need to be cleaned up but sprayers with any metal in contact with roundup will have a reaction with the metal and will be wrecked. Dave

Solo is another example of what once was a quality brand, now relying on its name to gain sales, while letting its quality fall off.
I had one that wouldn't build pressure, replaced the o-ring on the pump, it worked a couple of times, and quit again, threw it in the trash, and bought a Hudson brand for about 1/3 the price and have had zero problems.
