Troy Built Engines

I have a Troy Built model #13BX60TG766 with a 19hp Kohler. The engine has a hair line crack on the bottom of the engine that seeps oil. I would like to know if there are any other engines that will work on this Troy Built or if there is a way to repair this crack. The engine runs great.

First thing to do is try to determine what caused crack in eng,loose mounting bolts,twisted/bent frame,bad eng casting or neglect/abuse of tractor causeing uneven stress on frame/eng,after that get mod/spec numbers off eng & goto partstree,opeengines or local dealer & find out if oil sump(pan) is replaceable seperate from eng block,if not try contacting small engine warehouse or other online dealers & see if they can recommend a different brand replacement eng,as far as fixing leak some guy's have had good luck with jb weld,other's not,you may have to remove/disassemble eng depending where crack located to repair

You did not give the engine numbers, but I am going to assume it is a single cylinder Kohler Courage engine.

When did you buy it? Some of those engines had problems during the warranty period, which I think is 2 years from the date of sale.

To answer your other question, There is a Briggs and Stratton single cylinder that will bolt up to the frame,( they used Briggs engines in some Troybilts) and you can work the electrical out,(may have to change wires around in the harness plug etc.) but you may have to do some modifications to the hood or exhaust pipe or frame to hit the muffler. Or else use the muffler Briggs provides with their replacement engines.

Thanks for the replies. It is a single cylinder Kohler courage. I also have a older Yard Machine with a single cylinder 17.5 Briggs, and the frame looks identical to the Troy-Bilt.
