Truck sales.

Ouch!!! My eBay auction just ended on my International truck. I had a reserve of $12,699 and the auction only brought $4,550!!! It's a nice super clean low mile truck and is worth every penny. The only reason I wanted to sell was to downsize to a one ton. Looks like I'll be keeping it for a while I guess. I've seen a bunch of nice trucks only bring little near nothing lately on eBay. What gives? I realize it's a buyers market out there because of the construction downturn but I didn't figure it's anywhere this bad. Am I missing something? What's going on with trucks? It looks like you could steal a nice one ton lately too.

Ridicously high fuel prices. Anyone who has any extra money is spending it on gifts right now. Try again sometime after the new year.

Yea, I was trying to sneak it in before the Christmas rush. I'll try again in the spring I guess. Just how much do people spend on Christmas gifts anyhow? LOL

don't downsize to a one ton truck!

Look at how much they cost- near double what you're asking for your IH!

Not a nice used one. I drive unloaded too much and want to get 20 mpg empty not 10 mpg. You can grab a nice southern two wheel drive 10 year old one ton for 7-8 grand right now.

It sort of sux when you try to sell stuff.. I am trying to sell a bunch of nice machine shop stuff, and cannot find a buyer. But I get folks stopping by all the time, trying to buy things I do not want to sell, such as a pickup, skidsteer, tractor, GN trailer, etc..

People are busy this time of year. I have better luck selling higher price items in mid january till mid march. People are looking then and have tax refund money or need expenses. High fuel prices aren't helping you either.

1994 Hardinge HLV-DR Lathe, 1994 Okamoto 6-18 Grinder, 1993 Hansvedt EDM with 3-R CNC orbitor.. Lots of other stuff .. all like new..

oh, 2 wheel drive. Perhaps 50-60,000 miles? Yeah, You're right, and standard cab would be cheaper too.

Well, that settles that.

Good luck with sell and buy.

WAY TOO MUCH!!! We were in BestBuy 2 weeks ago, picked up a couple of items. The young gal in front of me at checkout had a cart full, rang up $842. She told the clerk, Great, now I'm done Christmas shopping. I about crapped. Chris

Being in the truck/equipment game for years , I'd like to shed some info that might be useful for you..The 1 tons nowadays are equivalent to 3/4 tons of years ago..If you don't want to run the "Big Binder" anymore , run a 3/4 ton pick-up with a stout trailer..More and more people are using trailers instead of having a big truck sitting around waiting to haul something..Then you can free up that pick-up truck for other duties...Plates , Insurance , Everything is cheaper.. My 2 cents worth..R.S.

good luck, a lot of what is happening with larger trucks is the high price of fuel partialy, but also the insurance companies are flat out stealing from us, my kenworth dump cost me almost 6 thousand a year just for insurance and its a local rig [ runs within 200 miles of home] also christmas is here and folks got to keep their money for that, i spent mine but it was on a new ride for the wife, so im in good with her this year, you might list it on truckpaper.com and see if it sells

Don't want to challenge your thinking but I don't know too many 3/4 ton trucks that will get 20 MPG (honestly) as an every day driver. The trailer idea works for me. Good luck
Andy

Me and the wife usually don't buy each other anything because we have three kids. This year were buying each other a new kitchen sink. (I'm footing the bill though of course!!!)LOL

No it's not. It's a commercial truck. What are all the people carrying around big heavy stuff with, pack mules?
