Helping my neighbor walk across his summer fallow so he can get caught back up after he had lost an engine in his big tractor and it was tied up in the shop for three weeks.

Didn't take time to put the duals on (should have); his soil is a bit lighter than mine, didn't have an extra donut for the cylinder and the cultivator is really taking a "bite" and making her work in 4th.

Miles from the place and only tools I had with me were a pair of vice grips and a 7/16" endwrench. So, I screwed 'er up 20 horses and lifted that droopy torque rise weight.

Was an immediate and very noticable boost in power, which matches the load nicely. I've never seen a 966 "smoke" before. :>)

Youd need more then that 966 turned up to pull those drags around here. A 1466 might work better. I think it's funny we fallow ground around here(western NY) to dry it out.

Hope you remembered to turn the skinnier screw out about one and a half turns also,to get the full affect of the torque rise.

The main purpose of summer fallow is to give a tractor driver something to do. A secondary use is to give us minimum till enthusiasts something to talk about. It also helps keep fuel prices high and stops any amount of organic matter build up.

barnrat, my neighbor has the 1486 version of this. same tire/ rim combo, but he run fluid in the fronts instead of iron weights. all i can say is what an animal.

The 966 we had would smoke a little but nothing like the 856 does.

We pulled a 6-16 on land hitch plow with it but not very fast.

Hey Allan;
Pulling the LOUD LEVER fully open will do that tractor some good.
Was it a nice change working on some light easy land?
