Ultrasonic cleaner...

IT WOULD BE THE BEST INVESTMENT YOU EVER BOUGHT, JUST DON"T BUY THE CHEAP ONES AT HARBOR FREIGHT, I DID ONE TIME AND IT WAS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY, GET ONE WITH A HEATER ALSO, MAKES ALL THE DIFFERANCE IN THE WORLD

That sounds like a good idea. I've used one with laundry detergent for small metal parts. Can't think of any reason you couldn't do it with carb parts. Wonder how it would work with carb cleaner? I might just try it next time I do a lawn mower or something.

I rebuild a lot of tractor carbs & magneto's I don't own one yet. My local John Deere dealer bought a small one from Snapon for their lawn & garden shop. They use a special cleaner. He loves it and wants to buy a larger one to clean small engine blocks.Ultrasonic is also used to clean fuel injectors & hydraulic lifters.

Have one designed for cleaning dentures. About the size of a coffee cup. Son used it to clean a carb for a Farmall C a while back - worked good with detergent and water. Had to put it in in several positions to clean it. Slow, but...

I want one big enough for a handgun.
Actually, one capable of taking a rifle or shotgun barrel and action, would be a neat thing to have.

I have been telling people for years to use them for cleaning carbs or anything thing with small passages. I use a little Jungle Jake in mine. Try to find one that is heated. I send a lot of dealers to Balkowitch.com. Great service.

Ray, we use a Crest at work. They have several size models. We use one that will hold 3-4 disassembled handguns, or the shotgun/rifle parts you have. For barrels or longer parts, you may have to put one end in first, then switch ends. Our Crest has heat, and a separate basin for oiling parts. It came with detergent and oil as a package. Pricey, but top of the line. The detergent is nontoxic, but you need to rinse it off after the cleaning cycle with hot water, then blow your parts dry with an air compressor. Ultrasonic cleaners will strip gun parts more thoroughly than any other method (down to pores in the metal). You will need to run the parts through the oil cycle to protect ferrous metal from surface rust. Industry opinions vary at this point regarding the safety of composite gun parts (Glock lowers, for instance) in US cleaners, so be careful about anything but metal.

I have the same one from HF, but was not brave enough to admit it. Works great. I start out with hot water and leave the heater on. Some dollar store cocentrate. A few cycles and carb is sparkling clean.

Wondering about your cleaner, does it clean out the passage ways? do you have to get something on it right away so it doesnt rust? Not familar with them, but very interested,so any info would be very helpful from you or anybody else that has one

I use a half gallon size.
One thing I do when mixing my de-greaser/solvent I preheat the water portion to a 140 degrees F +/-. It has a heater on it that goes to 80 degrees C takes a while.
Its worked pretty well so far.
