Under axle stabilizer arm brackets

I know I have been told before that the stab. bar bracket pins under the fender must point directly at the pins where the lower lift arms attach...BUT mine just do not point directly at each other. Standing beside the tractor at the seat and looking down the left two pins probably misalign by 1/2 to 3/4 inch..not too bad..the other side misaligns a good inch. I have loosened the fender bolts and tried everything I know....I have the adjustable stabilizer bars so should I loosen the fender bolts, raise the lift all the way with the stab. bars removed then adjust them (stab bars)to fit in the up position...What is the secret to this simple but aggavating mystery....Thanks

I have 4 old fords with stab brackets under the fenders and the pins all point to the pin that the lift arm is attached to. Do you have the right bracket? I can't take a picture right now because I'm at the office. Can post a picture later on this evening if it will help.

Maybe you have brackets for the same side . In other words 2 rights or 2 lefts . If you have open holes in the bracket that doesn't line up , just move the hitching pin . HTH. God bless, Ken

Tom,
Do you have the "original" cast brackets or the multi-hole angle iron aftermarket type?
If you have the brackets mounted correctly and are using the best holes (aftermarket), I would loosen the fender mount bolts, lift the arms by hand halfway and tighten the bolts. Then see if there is any binding when you lift and lower the arms through a full range.
I questioned mine because they didn't look exact. But I didn't take a micrometer to them.

Loosened fender/bracket bolts and slid the brackets all the way to the front. Best they will do is line up within 1/2 to 3/4" of each other.. I have the original under the axle brackets. Gonna get rid of the adjustable stabilizer bars and get some regular flat bar kind..I think they will flex a little and let the thing work. No matter what I do..if i adjust the stab. bars to fit right with the lift all the way doen, when I try to raise the drawbar by hand it binds after lifting it only 2-3 inches. If I raise it all the way up and adjust the stab. bars to reach the pins on the drawbar, then the lift don't quite go all the way down. One of those things I am sick of messing with but am determined I will get it where it will work right.

They HAVE to pretty much center on each other to work right.

Unless the holes in the bars are wallowed out some.

Sometimes to get the stay bars on you have to put the lift arms on and raise the implement. Adjust leveling gear bok push implement left or right. Not very often the just slide on.

Orignal brackets dont seem fit the bars that are sold now.The new under axle brackets have 3 holes.The new style fit my 600 fine.

I have a aftermarket set an a original set. Ill try the after market stay bar on my original today and see if it fits.

Tom, As a reference point; The centerline of a plain drawbar measures 31 1/2 inches to both inner and outer pins on my working set up, with one original under axle mount on right side, and newer angle iron style on left.
I measured as straight as possible using the centerline between lift arm end holes to the centerline of the two pins facing each other. This will give you an idea exactly how much they are off, and will give a starting point of where they should be.

That would be about right. I have now ordered just the straight flat replacement stabilizer bars, so they probably won't work either with the original brackets. I'm going to make them work one way or the other. My Dad's 2N has the original brackets and flat bars...Anyway, I will wallow out the holes in the bars or whatever it takes to make them work.
