Do any of ya'll use any of your tractors in unusual ways or for odd purposes?

Sometimes in my shop I pull the box off of a pickup either to replace the box, install cab corners on the cab, etc.

I have an H Farmall with a hydraulic tilt bucket loader on it. The bucket is 36" wide. I bought a couple of 10 foot 4x6's and bolt them to the inside of the sides of the bucket so they stick out in front like forks on a forklift. Works great for lifting pickup boxes off of pickups and setting them on a dolly in my shop, setting them on a trailer, off to the side, or whatever.

To remove the box from a pickup, I lower the 4x6's onto the floor of the box and put a couple of 2x6's the right length across under the stake pockets. If a box is already off the pickup, I can just poke the 4x6's underneath it.

Works like a charm, and the box doesn't swing around like if it's suspended from a chain. I've set a freshly painted box onto a pickup with a freshly painted cab and put the box within an inch of where it needed to be.

I stand my riding mower up with a stinger on my 411B so I can clean the bottom of the deck off or sharpen the blades easier.

I squash sheet metal with my AC crawler tractor. I do this to take the sheet metal to be recycled. Car parts are no problem, but washing machines are actually quite tough just take a little more time. I don't get much for the iron, but saves a expensive trip to the dump. stan

Well, the tractor powers the loader and the loader is about the handy'est and least expensive piece of equipment for all around use, I even took it to a jobsite last year, had to remove some vehicle lifts. This tractor certainly did not have an easy life before I got it, yet I've kept it going for 5 years or so. I'd have lost out on this deal, 3 vehicle lifts for the price of removal, had I not owned something to lift them.

Tractors and loaders have so many labor saving uses that it is impossible to describe. Up here in Maine the one that gives me pause is the use of log grapples and winches that attach to the three point hitch. People use these sometimes without concern for balance of loads etc. Some tractors are simply not desighned for these. The same can be said for round bale handlers on three points. Just my 2 cents ED

I've used the forks to move old cars, milk tanks, dog houses, boats, trailers, picture windows, freezers, logs, portable sawmill, concrete slabs, lumber, rocks, chicken coop, firewood, boilers, garden shed etc etc

Everyday use is just round bales and pallets.

When not pulling I use my Super 88 for cleaning the leaves out of my gutters.I drive it alongside the house and climb up on them 38's and get with it.Also use it as a gas storage tank when the lawnmower needs gas.Just a regular screwdriver and a switch of a ball valve and here she flows.

Here is a list of things that I have done that may sound strange to some.
1) Watched the Bellemy Brothers concert sitting on top of the canopy of my families 1918 Aultman Taylor 30-60. Yes there was a cooler involved.
2) Break tire beads from rims by driving over them with a tractor.
3) I had 3 tractors at my wedding reception.
4) Used a tractor while I asked my wife to marry me.

Ive used a 175 allis to pull 3 motor so far. I also used a Ford TW 35 to drive to my last day of high school. One of my cousins drove a John Deere 9400? to HER wedding...In her wedding dress!

I knew an older gent who lost his license after several DUI convictions- so drove his 8N Ford to the tavern, having been told by one of his cronies that it was OK since it was not a licensed vehicle. Bad advice- you can't drive any motor vehicle while intoxicated- I met him when I worked as a jailer, he was in on a 6 month sentence for DUI on the tractor.

Used the loader tractor to set up the tv antenna tower by house on hinges. Used a block and tackle with big rope like a sky hook on side of silo to lift up a 80 ft. grain auger with a MF 135 crawling along in low gear idling to pull the rope. btw surpluscenter.com sells some pulley drive welders to fit up like Bob's rig. You could turn your H into a welder too.

I got a good one for ya. Seen a guy put a boom pole on his loader tractor and attempt to bump tree limbs to knock walnuts to the ground. It didnt take long before he put on a motorcycle helmet to protect himself. If I remember right he wanted to get them off the tree all at one time so he had to only clean them up one time. It was funny!

there is a guy a little ways from me that has an auger permanently mounted to an m. the hopper is out the back of the tractor auger runs out the right side front of the tractor, i think he uses it for filling semi's from his bins. i'll see if i can get a picture and post it. kind of a very specific use for a tractor!!!!

Once years ago we were scheduled to take a family vacation to Florida, had a big ice storm & no power. My basement stays dry courtesy of a sump pump when we get water like that. Took off for Florida with the family with my 1940 John Deere H running a homemade generator running the sump pump. 14 year old neighbor kid came by three times a day to put gas in the tractor until the power cam on two days later. I think I must have had a lot of confidence in the old H and she never let me down. Since then I restored it and showed it at EXPO XI.

Mom and Dad used to put the Christmas lights up in the tall pines with an 8N, Dad at the controls and Mom in the TRIP bucket (she sure trusted Dad!!). Drove the H to Shopko in town before I had my license to buy ZZ Tops new release "Eliminator". Drove the same H to several beer parties in the city park. Drove across town with the H and a flatbed to pick up a dirt bike I bought (and got my a$$ whipped for that one ;( )

Buddy of mine got married this summer. His wife drove his 7400 JD into the reception hall/his pole barn to give him thier wedding present from the family. Had a new Misty Morn (sp) gun safe swing'n from the loader.

I thought that was pretty cool.

Our family used Surge milking machines on our farms. We had a stallcock on the intake manifold of our Silver King tractors.. When the electric power went off, we parked a running Silver King outside of the barn, hooked a hose to the tractor, and to the vacuum pipe on the stalls, and kept on milking!

I used my Mc Cormick Deering 10-20 on steel for an aluminum can crusher. Worked great but some cans would get stuck in the ground pretty good. It also worked good for killing moles around the barnyard. It earned the nickname "Mole Muncher".

I made a mistake it was the Nitty Gritty Dirt band not the Bellemy Brothers. I always get them 2 cornfused for some reason or another. May have sumptin to do with that cooler.
