Ive had this 1948 N for over 20 years and never given any thought to this bracket until a neighbor asked me about it. The modern adjustable top link wont fit in it so I always assumed it was for some particular implement that didnt need draft control. Appears to have very fine adjusting control. Any thoughts.?

They were called one belt mower. Had steel pitman. There is a arm with couple springs that hook to that ball mount. Havent seen one in years. An area at lived 50 years ago there was some still in use.

Sure looks like it. Bought the N at a local auction 21 years ago. Makes me wonder if the mower is still sitting in a barn or a fence row somewhere in the
area.

Not uncommon.

I used the one on my 55, 860, since sold, to attach limiter chains for a heavy 6' rotary cutter.

Worked great, and chains easily tweaked by adjusting stop bolts.

Ever since I seen that bracket,
I knew I had seen one before.
Digging thru the spare parts hunting for something else I found it. 8)
