We are used to seeing some unusual equipment moving by our home,such as wind turbines,towers blades ,heavy duty earthmoving equiment,oilfield equip,and many other.But today I saw a steam locomotive with three drive wheels on each side, being hauled north through our town,on Texas70.It looked to be the real thing,not a mockup.Can't help but wonder where it was being hauled.Anyone have a guess.By the way this road is used to keep the heavy stuff off the main hiways.

What town do you live in? Im tryin to think of where 70 is??? I live in Sulphur Springs Tx and see some turbine parts go by on I-30 and also heavy mining equipment too.

We live in the small town of Matador,about 90 miles northeast of Lubbock near the panhandle of Texas.

Wow thats few miles away from me. I live in east Texas. We get up that way every now then down H-287 goin to NM.

Will you be attending the show at Lubbock? I will be there Saturday for sure with my JD B and 112. Might leave them and come back after church Sunday and pick them up.

Well, any old locos that are relatively intact are being snapped up by clubs/museums, etc., for restoration. I hope it goes to one of them. Remember the Polar Express movie from a couple seasons ago? The model for that engine was the Pere Marquette 1225. That engine actually exists, I have seen it in operation pulling excursion trains here in Michigan. Think it is down for major overhauling right now.

Hiway 287 is north of me and crosses texas 70.I plan on being at the Lubbock show Sat morning til Sat. late afternoon.Will bring my homebuilt tractor and engine display with pumpjacks
