Well so far he is smarter than I am. I think he has dealt with these traps before.. Night before last(first night set)wife and I heard a commotion just outside the computer room where the trap was set...I went out to find that it appeared that the coon had tried to climb on the wooden GC lid to get in the barrell but the lid fell and hit the trap and made it close with no varmint inside..well last night I got real smart I thought-I decided to even tie the bait to the end of the trap up off of the floor of the trap..I just thought maybe if he was kinda reaching up he might get on the trigger easier/quicker..well I went out the door and I didn't even see the trap. Apparently he scooted it around to get the pieces I had thrown inside(small pcs went through the wire)..He had moved it 5-6 ft and in the process it tripped..he's smart but I will get him..I've caught smart, smart old, old, wild barn cats before..I do think I can out smart him....here is the plan...Trap will be moved off of the concrete and anchored to the ground--everything else has seemed o.k. but he is scooting it around and as a result the trap trips..Little more time will tell..BTW, no more scattered garbage since tieing the can to the house...I'm just trying to get him 'cause guy I work with wants to grill him..He loves em--thankfully I have never been that hungry..
