Update on manure spreader

I checked the tag on the frame and found the following:
Made for Sears Roebuck by
Simpson Sears Limited Canada
Model number started with 84

Tire size is 15" It currently has a 7.00 x 15 snow tire on it that is rotten. Tough finding those down here in Louisiana!

Do you think sears will still honor the lifetime warranty?? LOL

I know that Sears used to be into all sorts of things. My father told me that when he was a kid trapping muskrats, Sears would buy the furs from him

You just might have something there. Have a cousin that works at the local Sears. I will take a picture of the tag and the spreader and bring it to him. Ought to get a few laughs out of it!

IIRC Simpsons was a major Canadian department stores like Sears, Wards, etc. Being it was made in Canada it could be a Cockshutt. Just a thought.

Looks like Miller tire has a traction implement tire that would fit you rims... Otherwise just go with a good truck tire. A little bit cheaper that way...

That is just a standard pickup off road tire, not a snow tire in your picture. More for traction in dirt than snow but better in snow than a straight tread front axle type tire. Any tire dealer should be able to get new ones in a week. 6 ply rating. That spreader came from factory on recap passenger car tires with a tractor style tread and mounted in reverse of a tire on a tractor so the ground would provide the traction. It was a 8:20 X 15" tire. Different size tires will work but they have to be matched size on BOTH sides. Light mostly straw hand loaded on dry ground a plain all season passenger car tire will work OK. Wet heavy manure loaded with a loader takes a lot more power to unload and then if you are on wet grass then none of them can get the traction needed for power to unload. In the northern states many spreaders were run on straight truck tires but when wet - snow conditations came a tire chain was put on the tire.
