Used Finish Mower

John,

What brand & condition? I bought a 56" woods a couple of years ago came with a new belt, guide wheel were shot and blades needed replaced, paid $225.00 thought that was fair. I use it behind my tea20 does a pretty good job. If you buy it get yourself an overrun clutch. Hope this helps.

Bought a Caroni at auction for $350. Deck had rust, but gear box was good. Woods has hot brand name and brings more. All depends on condition, but the new Caronis are about $1200 or so, and maybe that tells you something (used about 1/3 cost of new?)

Don't know what brand. I have a photo from a posting on an electronic bulletin board (can't figure out how to stick that in my forum post). I've been told it's about 10 yrs old and hasn't been used for the last 5 years. Looked pretty good in the picture. But, it sounds overpriced based on what others have paid.

I bought a Woods RM59 some time back for $375.00 and have not had a problem ,the zero turn mower has kill the sale of these mowers

At an auction last week, I missed a used 6' King Kutter rear discharge finish mower. It went for $825. About half the price of a new one. I was hoping to steal it for about $500.

That is probably a good deal if the mower is in decent shape. Where I live, used finish mowers for sale are very seldom seen. It seems like most people would rather plunk down the big bucks for a zero turn these days. Personally, I can't see spending that much money on something that just mows.

I pick up a 3pt 5 footer finish mower with new belts and an extra set of new blades for $150. last year. But that's a fluke. I never seen one go that cheap. When I went down to pick up my 1951 TO30, That had been laying in the barn for over 20 years, I said to the farmer So what else do you have for sale? Oh and by the way I also picked up a 3pt 6' rear cycle bar mower from the same farmer for $50. The deals are out there you just have to keep looking.

John, I over pay for everything I 'really' want. I bouht my to 30 and the guy had a 3 blade finish mower with a bad bearing on the middle blade. he thru it in with the 30 for mothing to get rid of it. If you really want it go for it, but there are better bargins.

Bought a six-foot Taylor-Pittsburgh, used, a couple years ago. Cost me $250. Had to do some welding on the deck and eventually replaced wheel bushings, but its still cutting. I felt that was a good deal then, too. Unless that's your budget and you're satisfied with its reputation, I'd keep looking....

John,
A good new land pride will cost you $1500.
I paid $700 for mine 3 years ago. Not seen for sale very often. I would not buy a king kutter used for the price you mention, although lots of people swear by them. As the others say, buy it if it fits your needs/budget.

Seen here behind my 1947 2N, which I sold last spring.
