I have spent some time in Nigeria. In fact, I visited some of the internet rooms where the scams come from. I am not justifying or defending the scammers. However, if you haven't been there it is hard to imagine the incredibly widespread poverty, disease, and filth that was everywhere that I visited. I also saw the wealth from the oil fields that benefits only a select few. There are millions of people who are desperate. I have no answers for the problems that seem to be endemic to that region. My heart goes out to those who suffer overt there, particularly the children. I think sometimes that we in the US don't count our blessings as we should.
