Not that hard to do. Thay unbolt off the tractor.
I had my UTU shoes relined at Ogburn's truck parts in Houston. ( cost was 58.50 in 11/06. Just
put everything back like it came off. I would get a manual if i were you frist tho. I sure helps........L A

The UT's brakes are essentially the same drum car brakes - just much beefier. Any clutch/brake shop can can reline the shoes as LA suggests below. (I paid $50 to have my UTU brakes relined a couple years ago).

A few tips:

1 - You'll need a large socket (2-1/8"? - I'm not certain...) to remove the nut that secures brake the drum to the half shaft.

2 - If there's any evidence of oil leakage into the brakes, now is a good time to replace the brake drum seals. (Replacement is straight forward and seals are cheap)

3 - After repair, adjust the brakes EXACTLY per the manual (there's several steps involved). Otherwise the brakes may be ineffective and/or "grabby".

Good luck!
