VAC/300

VAC is tired and could use a rebuild. I plan to show it and pull it a little. I have been collecting info to get a plan before I tear into it. I found a crank for a 300. This will increase my stroke by 3/8" I think. Am I correct, and will this fit without any modifications? Also, when ordering an engine kit, do I just order a 3 7/16 sleeve kit for a 300 and use my VAC connecting rods, or is there more parts needed from the 300? Thank you for your help and knowledge.

I have a crankshaft from a 300b that I tried to put in a vac and it will not fit. The 300b crankshaft is longer. A crank form an older 300 roundnose may work but I have no experience with that.

Find a 201 cu.in. from a combine and bolt it into the VAC if ya want a VAC puller. Others here have the specifics on that swap, or use the 148 cu.in. out of the 300. The VAC is only 124 cu. in.

All the parts you order must be for a VAC, as the 148, 188, and 201 are different longer blocks and I think the sleeves are also different. www.agkits.com offers complete rebuild kits for VAC's with 3 7/16" pistons, bearings and gaskets/seals.

overhauled a 300 for a friend once and the sleeve kit said "over bore for vac" a 201 is not a simple bolt in according to others that have done it.

A 300 crank will fit with mods but you can't use the 3 7/16 VAC pistons with a 300 crank and stock rods. You can use 3 9/16 pistons to get a 164 cid but it takes lots of work. E-mail if serious and will give all the details for more hp with stock block.

Hello friends..I'm new to this site and happen to have a vac-14 that I just restored last summer...When you say properly tuned ..Exactly what do you mean??
I have the overbore kit but it still seams sluggish..I can't run with the cockshutts, fergusons and farmalls in our 3800 pound class tug pull and they are stock engines..I know because they are family members and helped restore there tractors..I get laughed at every year and any help to turn the table around would be greatly appreciated...Rod.
