ventilator pump

I have a 4010 and I want to disconnect the ventilator pump. Does anyone know the process? I have heard that one of the gears has to be removed and an internal hole pluged to maintain oil pressure. Any help?

i don't have a clue about 4010's workings, but to disconnect the ventalator pump seems crazy to me. if you allow pressure to build up in the crank case its going to start blowing seals or causing the tractor to smoke at a minimum. oil pressure shouldn't have a thing to do with the pump at all.

John's48,

The 4010 ventilator pump PULLS clean air in from the air cleaner, then discharges it INTO the crankcase, forcing crappy air OUT of the crankcase breather.

Just the opposite of what you are thinking.

IIRC, this is covered in the M&W turbo manual.

Hopefully, someone will jump in with the answer. Otherwise, I'll take a look at my M&W manual, and post back later, if the info is in there.

We have both a 3010 utility and a 4020 that were disconnected years ago. As far as I know, the pipe was just cut off and removed from the pump and they put a plug in the hole and left the gears in. To close the hole in the intake they left about 2 inches of pipe intact and pinched it closed with pliers or vice grips. Both have been working that way for 30+ years

The 4010 is a diesel and it is has an M&W turbo. There are two lines coming off the pump, top one goes to the bottom of the intake manifold, the other goes into the front of the pump and is larger.

thanks for setting me straight. i have a 48 b and i was just going by how it works. now, what part does the vetalator pump have to do with oil pressure he's talking about. why disconnect the pump and where did the discussion about a turbo come in at?
