vertical travel in steering question

on a mf 135 with power steering what is the amount of vertical travel in the steering when going from left to right.need to know if there is enough to activate the spool in steering?

I&T manual paragraph 28 says:
"Clamp the steeering shaft if a vise and tighten nut (56) to a torque of approximately 30 ft-lbs.; then back nut off 1/4 turn and stake in place, to establish the correct shaft movement to acctuate the valve."

That nut 56 is just below the seal on the steering shaft and holds everything together. I'm guessing is a 32 per inch thread and 1/4 turn would give about .008" end play. I've had the top off to replace the seal but didn't take that nut loose. I don't notice much end play when driving my MF-135. I suppose if I tried a feeler gauge or a dial gauge, I could measure that end play.

Gerald.
