Wagner Electric Motor

I've got an old Wagner, repulsion-induction electric motor which has had the end housing opposite the pulley welded at some point. It had broken along the venting. The welded housing works fine except it is not welded perfectly straight. Thus, the bearing HOWLS on that end. I oil it up, and it runs quietly for a minute or two, and begins to HOWL again.

Quite a few years back a I did some hunting around locally for a (used) replacement end, but found nothing. Do any of you know of a source (motor salvage person/company) I could get such a part for this old motor?

I suppose the motor's not worth much, but these old things are tough! I'd sure feel a lot better about it if it didn't howl so loudly.

Thanks,
Glenn F.

I may have such a motor, mice got in and built a nest. Resulting fire destroyed windings. What horsepower is yours?

If you can't find another end bell, chuck the old one in a lathe, bore it out and press in a steel sleeve and bore it true to the other diameter and face, a slight press fit on the bearing should do it. ohfred

That's a good idea. I don't have a lathe, but my neighbor does. When the weather gets a little nicer I'll have to talk with him.

Thank you,
Glenn F.
