ok maybe I should of clarified it more. The puller look"s like a slide hammer. They were made around the turn of the century untill the depression. The business end look"s like a crab"s pincher claw wit a fulcrum arm off to the side to use as a lever after you get the claw"s underneath the nail head you just push it down and it pry"s the nail up.

If yer talking bout one of these, they're still commonly available new...one of those few tools that is almost impossible to improve on.

Unfortunately, the fixed jaw is chipped on this example. The same thing happened to mine. I built it up with weld material and ground it back to shape, but it didn't last very long. Next time I'll try to temper it. On eBay most people who are selling them think they are antiques and no longer used/made. And most have the same chipped jaw. You must have a clear picture and look very close at the jaw tips. They are almost useless with bad jaws. New are about $60 in this area.

If I could have remembered where to send it, you would have had mine on Saturday. It would have been delivered by instant high speed air express, accompanied by a blazing smoking cloud of profanity and bad language. I pulled the classic screw-up with it. We were replacing the roof on my sisters porch, had a little too much help, a little too many distractions. I held the handle a little too far up, and gave the slide a heck of a shot, and pinched my left thumb between the slide and the collar on the handle. I always warn people about this when they use it, but of course it was me that got caught. I spent half an hour with an ice pack, mumbling and muttering, and today it isn't too bad, just a deep blood blister about the size of a match head in the middle of the pad of my thumb.
