We have to replace the old Frigidaire front loader. Looking at a Whirlpool front loader WFW9400. I would like opinions and experiences. Sorry about airing my laundry, but if the wife is happy I can play with the tractor longer....
Thanks in advance,
Tim

Bought wife a Whirlpool Duet front loading washer and dryer a few years ago. She likes it. I don"t do laundry so I can"t comment. My job is to get the clothes real dirty. She seems to like it though and I still get to play with tractors.

You are right, if wife is not happy, NOBODY is happy!

Last two have been Whirlpools. First one made it 12 years, this one is now 6 years old. I wash my work clothes and it meets my needs. The boss likes all the different settings for all her fancy duds, so the Mama is happy. Billy

Da wife's front loading Kenmore finally gave up! It only did 20 loads a week for 8 years. So I tear it apart and find the parts, only I'm not spending 531.00$ on parts. I go to da hardware store and talk to the guy dare. He says that Speed Queen, made in Wisconsin and Bosch made in North Carolina are the only ones made in da good ole US of A! So da wife is gettin a brand new US built machine.

It's a good one, made in Germany. The replacement version coming out is a WFW9450, the "50" designates coming from Mexico.
I sell them for a living. Yea, yea, I know but somebody has to.

I replaced my wifes kenmore which was built by Fridgidare after it came apart with 4 years of use. I really did a lot of research and ended up buying a Samsung. The difference in how well it washes and how quiet it is is unbelievable. You hardly hear it run and no vibration like most of the other front loaders. I would highly recommend it. I have found the best way to research washing machines is to get on the internet and type in "problems with a particular model" That will really open your eyes.

I know a guy in the appliance repair business. He said that generally Whirlpool need the least amount of repairs. Frigidaire used to need the most. Not sure if they still do or not. Dave

My friend"s Whirpool Ensignia must have been a lemon then, the washer grinds loudly as it agitates and it never seems to spin dry very well. It"s only about 4 years old. I keep hearing very good things about Fisher and Paykel, made in New Zealand I think. They are pricey though.

About 12 years ago we bought front load Maytag neptune washer/dryer. Wasn't cheap but have had zero problems with them. Wife does 3-4, maybe 5 loads per week. They claim low-er water use, can fit a ton of stuff in them, and it seems we never lose any socks.

HTH..good luck...don t. .....

Go to the Sears out let store (new stuff) plunk down about 400 buck put it your ride and good for about 10 years. SIL got one of the real high dollar sets and would not completely dry and found out that was the way it was fixed to work.

We bought this Kenmore in 2008 had a Maytag Neptune for about 10 years before the Sears washer and sold it for $200.00. Hal

The first front loader we had was a Bendix we bought in 1955 shortly after I was discharged from the Army. It lasted 20 years before we replaced it. Had one service call on it. Hal

Alot of front load users here.

Any of you have trouble with them stinking inside ? This was to be a big problem with the front loaders. Something about the way some water lays in them and around the seals ?

The saleman at Lowes told us the Fisher and Paykel machines are assembled in the USA but the parts come from Austrailia. Don't let the plastic lids come slaming down on your fingers, OUCH.

bought a Fridgeadre front loader less than 500.
wanted one with mech timer and basic controls.
was on my own for the first 7 months with it, then daughter, sil and granddaughter moved in followed a month later by wife, 2 daughters hate to say how many loads a week for the last year. works great. daughter, sil and granddaughter moving out and bought a fancy front loader, dryer.
good luck
Ron

We've had 6 or 7 front loaders in the last 55 years and we leave the door open so they can dry.
Never had one to stink. My wife says Kenmore recommend's you run a bleach cycle through the washer once a month and we leave the door cracked open so it can dry. Hal
