WD-45 quitting

It seems that after I've been working my WD-45 after about an hour it starts to cut out and then quits. It eventually starts again. I've cleaned the fuel system. Today I pulled, cleaned, tightened and reconnected the coil neg and pos connections and it started and ran good although I did not continue to work it and put in in the shed. Could the coil be going bad so when it heats up it doesn't work properly?

Sounds like a 6v coil on a 12v system. If not it could be going bad I think Ive also read where a condenser can act that way also but not for sure.

Run it till it dies. Then check for spark. If you find it has weak or no spark check to see if the coil is to hot to hold on to. If it is yep you stand a good chance the coil is going bad. Takes about an hour for a coil to heat up and short out

My wd-45 was doing the same thing, couldnt figure out why it would run and then just die. I have a rubber hose fuel line and inline filter. Finally replaced the rubber hose fuel line and fuel filter and it has ran fine ever since.

Ah but did you know a WD45 should not and never did as per factory have a rubber fuel line and or a in line fuel filter and having one or both can cause major problem

OMG, I hope I haven't ruined my WD. I have had a rubber fuel line and inline fuel filter on it for 15 years - and it was working so good.

Mine used to do that after I converted it to 12 volts to include the coil, but not the points condenser. Put in a 12 volt condenser and the the problem stopped. I later installed a Pertronix solid state ignition system and have never looked back.

Ya some get lucky and then there are those that end up with a big fire on there hands and a tractor that is 100% pure scrap iron. Ya I have a few with rubber lines on them but NON with in line filters on them. Problem with the rubber lines are if your in tight places like under and around trees the lines can snag and in turn spray gas all over a hot engine and that can cause a fire big time

I have a wd45 that is doing the same thing, acts like fuel but maybe is the condenser mine is a converted to 12v system. What Petronix fits our tractors...thanks Jerry
