have a wd allis that I've thought about making a puller out of is it possible to get around 100hp out of it without to much trouble? is there anybody in wi that might build something like this or be able to help? thanks for any and all help.

I'm about an hour north west of Eau Claire. I've got an engine that I built for my tractor for my dad to run but plans have changed and I doubt that it'll get out for any pulling.

I was going to advertise it sometime weather I sell as a turn key engine, a parts engine that you assemble or if you want a complete tractor it can all go.

Just remember, Den, to do your research on the individuals first. Go to nnalert and click on the pulling forum...look at who gets recommended...*hint* ..Its not MlPankey..EVER.

Go with wi50...he has so many ideas, proven on the track. Has already forgotten more than most pullers will probably ever know.

if you spend your money with a builder that has built engines and they are all over the US then that is all you need. anyone can take a pic of something but that doesnt mean it will do what it is said to do. thats why if you want a engine built in the south talk to LW and when it hits the track u will see what the others are made of.

(quoted from post at 00:20:59 03/06/14) Andy want stay with his name much .tarbills tractor did make pages of hook magazine . I have pictures of it in the magazine. That's is a good question to ask builder or person you purchase a engine from is to ask them to show pictures of it being at least a natpa qualifier.

I'm just curious if this is your screening process when buying an engine....."I seen a picture in a magazine of the tractor it was in".

Add this to your impressive list of credentials like "I talked to a guy that raced a car that was on TV" like you were nagging on in another thread and I have no doubt that you're a sucker and will spend money on junk.

In fact if a guy were to look on here at a topic called "used engines and the lessons learned from them" one would find a thread in which you're crying that an engine you bought was junk. Pretty sore about the deal by the looks of it.

This is exactly why the motor freight companies, UPS, Spee Dee, etc. are the tractor pullers friends. For about a meager $300 or so I can ship a complete engine, about $60 for a cylinder head package, $125 for rotating assemblies with various related parts to just about anywhere. Weather it goes to Pa, Tn, NC, SC, WV, Ky or about any other place the price is about the same. And the best part is the price is irrelevant when guys get parts and engines that fit, last and work together. I just sit back and smile when I see them bragging on facebook, here, on another forum about their winnings.

The guys in the Midwest are lucky, Spee Dee delivery service operates here and they are half the price of UPS.

I myself would highly reccomend that you get yourself in in the magazines, get some pictures if yourself at the awards banquet. Get some parts out their working. Get some people backing you. Get yourself on TV or something (not on the soap channel). Just do something, anything. Being stupid on the internet just isn't worth much in the real world. Give your 5 imaginary employees something to do, get your non existent 3 axis HBM working and please tell us where you got that 11/16 all threaded rod!

wi50 thanks for the offer but right now I'm just trying to get an idea what to do with it. It was the second tractor my grandma, father, uncle bought when the were farming. If I can ask what would something like a 100hp wd engine cost complete turn key?? what would have to be done to the wd to handle that kind of power? kind of new to bigger hp tractors have been pulling with a farmall that my father built about 30-35 years ago that is still somewhat competitive with the tractors being built. I'm about 45min north east of Madison sorry it took so long to respond been on the road for work.

Things can cost whatever, depends on what you want. I've typically got a lot of parts on hand and in the works to get sold, others are specific for other peoples engines. It's not to hard to tie $3000 up pretty quick in a basic shortblock assembly. $5000 with a little better stuff, then there's head, manifold, carb, buy some Murphys rockers and it adds up fast....clutch, ignition....it's all in what a guy wants to spend and how much they can do themselves. You can have a $2000 motor or a $10,000 motor. But the stuff I build for the 4mph guys I can keep the cost down pretty decent.

I just won't get out with mine mich at all. We run another tractor. The best thing you could do is to come up and take and run mine. See how you like it and go from there. Someone I know has a pretty good engine that I built and is very competitive, he told me the other day to try and sell it, he'd like to buy my engine, another option.
