I have a Allis WD, I was using it and then when I shut it off it will not start again?
it has lots of spark, the spark plugs are wet so it is getting gas, I gave it some ether and some propane and it did not effect it any?
I have checked all of the valves and non are sticking.
Thanks for any info

it shouldn't be flooded because it has been sitting for a few weeks, I tested out the compression and it seemed fine. This tractor has never burned oil, so I don't think it would be rings or anything like that.
Thanks for the reply

How old is the gas?

And maybe change plugs?? sometimes a plug will fire in the open and not under compression. it is not likely that all four would not though.

I would try fresh gas. May have some water in the carb also. Should be a plug to drain it.

My Model D motor grader did the same thing. I clean out the plugs and The points, gap etc.. it started and then I ordered and installed the pointless ignition and it has never failed me since. (oops the coil went out a year later in the winter and I had to replace it) But that pointless ignition is great, fires up every time.

I rebuilt the carburetor right after it quit, I also put in new points and condenser in the mag.
I put in fresh gas with a fuel cleaner to make sure there was no water in it.
Thanks for the info,
I will keep you all posted

Plug wet with gas means you have gas fouled plugs and the engine is flooded. Clean the plugs and or replace them with a set of plug a tad bit hotter. If your plugs ever are wet with gas that means you are getting way to much fule and the engine is in fact flooded

Verify you have blue spark that jumps a 1/4 inch gap. If your plugs were gas fouled replace them after doing a cranking compression test. Rings may be washed out. To verify put a tablespoon of oil in each cylinder and crank it over some then retest. Take a fuel sample in a clear clean jar and look for separation in the fuel which is usually water. Hope this helps. Gerard

I have run across this several times and it always seems to be the Last thing to be tried...:

Rings loose their seal from oil washing off and the engine will not fire at cranking speeds..
A teaspoon of oil in each cylinder and they start fine, all season long..!!!
Just had this on a fresh NOVO twin..bugger would NOT fire, till a squirt of oil sealed it up..!!
Cranks up fine, not it has run and sealed-up..!
Ron..

I put some oil down the cylinders and it is still the same, I will put a higher spark spark plug and I will see what it does.

There is no impulse, I have modified the mag to work like a distributor, there is now a external coil, now there are really long blue lightning bolts shooting off plug wire :)
I can't pull the tractor because it has hydraulic steering and the loader is on the ground, this thing isn't moving anywhere;)
Thanks
