WD45 Puller

I've got a WD45 pulling tractor we've done the oversized pistons (4 1/8"), stroked the crank (5" stroke), bigger valves in the head, 38" tires, does anybody have any other suggestions to get more horsepower? I'm getting sick and tired of getting 4th and seeing 3 Minnepolis Molines win everytime we go. HELP!

We need to know what rules you are working with. What carb are you using... What stops your pulls... What weight classes... ?
The more details you can give us the better we can narrow down our suggestions.

I normally run in Div. II classes, no cut tires (things of that nature). We have not changed carbs, but we have run a direct line and gotten rid of the settlement bulb. We generally run 4500, 5500 lbs classes, but would be interested in running in 6500 if the horses would allow. The major thing that has been slowing us down thus far, has been spin-outs. Maybe a tire or weight issue? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

you are out of your league in those weight classes. Run 4000 or below with the connect point of the chain at the rear of the tires as if you ran 28" tires. Run transfer sled only with a chain 4' or shorter is best. Locate your variable weight so that the front end does not come up but gets very very light. You will probably have front tire weights to do it. The short chain will allow enough traction during weight transfer but you MUST keep the front end down to be able to use it.

Actually, we are normally in the top 5 out of a class of 10. But like I said in the previous post, we need some more under the hood in order to compete with the Minni's.

If you are spinning out, then having more horses under your hood isn`t going to do a thing for that problem. What tires are you running? What brand, how much wear, what pressure? You need better traction! How much weight are you hanging on and where? Are your tires filled? You have more power now that you are able to hook to the track. Before you do anything about more power you have got to hook up what you have already.

put bigger tires on it if you want to pull heavy 18.4 26 or 28s should do the job
