WD45 Starter Problem???

I changed out spark plugs on my WD45 today, I got them in, then I went to start it and it just clicked. So I checked all my cables and still nothing. I then puled off the starter and I hooked it up to jumper cables and it just clicks and doesn't spin but it will spin by hand. Is there any thing I can try? or do I need to get another starter???

Thanks,
Coyote

Don't junk the starter yet! the communtator may be glazed, try putting a bit of sandpaper,( under thumb pressure) on the armature and rotate. Also check that both brushes are making contact...Good luck--BamaDee.

You should still be able to get it rebuilt for a reasonable price. The starter on our B got a new switch, brushes and was turned down for less than $100. Even if it costs you more to rebuild one it will turn better than any one from the salvage yard.

You can get a rebuild kit on ebay for about 15 bucks. It will include bushings and brushes. Clean up the commutator and clear out the segment under cuts. Works great.
