Why was the Forum website changed?
"may have crashed at any moment. And EVERY post made ever would be gone forever."The old software was so hacked up and held together with hopes and prayers, it may have crashed at any moment.
And EVERY post made ever would be gone forever.
So they bought commercially available forum software that is available to any website.
NONE that are up to date by the current forum software developers are offered to resemble the old software.
So YT made a choice, what you see is what we are stuck with for the future.
Kim and Chris are working nearly 24/7 to address the issues some users are not happy with.
Not possible to make everybody happy, but they are tweeking the software to please many.
Got to be patient and remember this is a free forum.I

ASSUMING that backup could be successfully restored somewhere."may have crashed at any moment. And EVERY post made ever would be gone forever."
ASSUMING the site owners did an occasional backup there would be no worries of THAT! LOL!
Your "new user" status indicates that you may be unable to get into the site with an old account. It can be recovered if you go to the Site Comments forum and post there. Why was the Forum website changed?
Hello Big Boar welcome to YT! Or is it welcome back? Curious if you were a “lurker” and the format change intrigued you so you joined? Reading more maybe you were forced to reregister. Why was the Forum website changed?
Kim or Chris can recover the old account, reset the password. As I said earlier, post in Site Comments, state your old username, and ask for help.Hello Big Boar welcome to YT! Or is it welcome back? This would likely be a good reason to start a "conversation" (the button in the box next to your profile) with one of them. That is the private messaging system, which works with the new software. That way the info they would need to reset your old account (if you had one) is not visible to anyone but the person(s) you send the conversation to.Kim or Chris can recover the old account, reset the password. YT Support (Chris) had implemented the first message filter so the threads will show in the order posted and new post to old threads will not move them to the top. You need to go to your Preferences and check the "Threaded View" box and the "Order by First message" box to activate that feature. Here is a link to the thread in Site Comments about it.And is still sucks with not knowing when you last looked at things since it all comes back up from one day to the other looking the same whether you read it or not and I tried a bunch of the things mentioned . I for the most part have just quit looking at most of it now. And spend very little time looking at it . Skim Some things and let the rest go by. Seems every post that gets a comment shows back up as a new post which complicates things for knowing what is read and what is not so I just don't bother with most of it. Some things change from bold print when read and some don't adds another complication to it.
Cat..guy do you have any interest in looking at any of the replies or how comments on a topic you posted on progressed. I certainly do, I use the “Alert”’bell at the top. When you click that it brings up a list of what threads you replied to and that others replied to. Clicking the items in the lists takes you to the thread at the point you had last read. After you finished in that thread your back arrow takes you back to the Alert list. You might not like it, but l think it is great. And is still sucks with not knowing when you last looked at things since it all comes back up from one day to the other looking the same whether you read it or not and I tried a bunch of the things mentioned . Hey I feel you. I'm an android user, and my mom has an iPhone.. I think the biggest hurdle was getting all posts on forum converted to new forum. And is still sucks with not knowing when you last looked at things since it all comes back up from one day to the other looking the same whether you read it or not and I tried a bunch of the things mentioned . I should clarify, if you went in your preferences and turned off “Alerts” this turns off this feature. You can turn them on an it does not affect your e-mail settings if you have chose to not get emails about posts. The “Alerts” are internal to the forum, email of course is external.Cat..guy do you have any interest in looking at any of the replies or how comments on a topic you posted on progressed.
