weight box

I got in a 741 today with an original weight box on the front. I tried to open it but could only get the lid to come about 45 degrees. I didn't want to break something nor smash my fingers. What am I doing wrong. BTW, it has all 6 inside pieces too!!

The cover does not rotate up it slides forward, after the clamps in the back are released.
