Weight lifted

Why would a tractor with a big bucket pickup no more that half the bucket ? I have a ford 3550 and it seems to not pickup the weight it should what did I need to check for problems first? Thank You ` Randy Roark

What are you lifting? A farm loader is not as strong as a industrial loader.. A farm loader is not built to move gravel all day.. A big bucket is good for sawdust and snow. How wide is your bucket 7 or 8 feet ???

First I'd check the hyd fluid level. next, I'd look for a leak/busted hyd hose or line. after that I'd suspect the hyd pump (for output), first after the filter then before the filter.

I assume that this loader is plumbed from a pump that is mounted on the front of the crankshaft??

And the control valves are mounted on the fight hand side of the unit aprox at dash height??

I'd have to look it up, but Im thinking that the number "5" (in 3550) represents industrail model....

I would sa that this loader is capable of lifting a ton all day long. Probably more! mine does....

my neighbors OLD massy fergison lifted one end of the 8000 lb steel storage container, mine had the other end....sl

Edit... the "50" represents teh industrial model.

also, much depends which loader model is attached to your machine, and don't forget, who know what is original or not on this tractor. so many of the parts are intenchangable...

and, typically when a loader won't lift a 'heavy' load, that is because it has reached it's potential, or has exceeded the capicity of the pump.

Q). has this unit, in the past been able to lift heavier loads than in now does? Where is the pump, the one that controls the loader, located? and what model loader is this???...sl
