Weight question

Ive shortened my hitch from 26" to 18" from center of axle and was wondering if will take less weight to keep the tractor balanced or not. I just pulled it a couple of times so I'm relativity new to the sport. Thank billy

Shorter hitch results in less weight needed on front. If your tractor is front heavy when pulling your lightest class the longer draw bar can give you more draft from the sled, and better traction.

That's what I thought it would take less. I made the hitch and can adjust out to 20". I put a little on the front if I remember right. Showcrop u have a ford don't u how much weight do u run. Thanks billy

Both my 900 and my 9000 are pretty light on the front in their lightest classes so I pull with the draw bar in. A friend pulls an 800 and does very well with it. On a softer track he is a little heavy on the front so he slides his draw bar out a few inches so that he can hook up.
