Ken......according to the N-Owners Manual, the 8N with full gastank and radiator, air in tires, but not the operator, weighs 2410-lbs. Isn't it amazing what you can learn reading the manual??? ......Dell

Ken , if you can't find out an answer whenever reading , just ask . Dells comment was uncalled for in my manual . I'll bet he's asked questions of more knowledged people in his time also, if he'd own up to it . If you've noticed in this crued world , we have people that know a lot & enjoy sharing some of it . And there's people that know it all & let you know . Never fear asking questions . HTH! God bless, Ken

I agree. This type of rudeness has no place on a forum that is supposed to be helping people.Sadly, though it seems that all forums have a few

Guys, let it go! If you could meet Dell in person (I have) you'd understand him better.

I have seen Dell answer that same question probably over 200 times over the years. And he answers a lot of questions like that, over and over and over. And the answers can usually be found in the manual or with an archive search.

Its just Dell's way of making a point to all of us, get a manual and read it and you can learn more about your tractor. Getting all offended doesn't do a thing. Let it go.

Dell has always been that way to every body here it is just who he is. If you get past that about him you will find he knows his stuff hes just a tad crude as to the way he tells people things. But he has also been here for 10 or so years so he has seen it all and answered more then 15,000 posts

You "defenders", listen to yourselves- this poor guy very politely asked a simple question, and got a rude, wisea$$ answer, and actually ended up apologizing to the person who was rude- and it's OK for him to be rude because he's been around a long time, and everybody else should "let it go"? And you see nothing wrong with this picture??? Rude is rude, it doesn't matter if it's picking your nose in public, passing gas in church, or boorishly making sure everyone knows that you "know" everything- a little COMMON COURTESY is not too much to ask for, even for us lowly mouth-breathing unwashed heathens. That guy couldn't have asked more politely- and gets treated like that? Nice Welcome Wagon, guys...
Personally, having grown up with tractors & trucks since about age 5 living with my gramps, an IH dealer, trucker, lime spreader, and farmer, and moved on to dozers, graders, excavators, building race engines, crew chiefed on sprint cars running with the World of Outlaws, etc., I guess I can get by OK without his divine help, but I've never belittled anyone that comes by the shop with a rookie question or a busted whatzit or widgit- it's not according to my manual, either- rude is rude. Period.
BTW- Merry Christmas- even you, Dell

I agree, there is nothing there to get your dander up, a light hearted poke in the ribs isn't going to hurt you, cupcake. See? There's another one. No harm done. LOL. If someone is nasty, pull them up short, but that? C'mon.

Give a man an answer, and he only knows that one thing.

Teach a man how to look it up, and he knows many things...

More ways to choke a dog, sides on butter...

Not to fan the fire lol, everyone says to use the archive. Just my thoughts, I've been visiting this forum since 2000, I don't say much but I read just about all the questions. There has been questions asked from how to remove a lug nut to how to rebuild the motor. I bet there are few questions that could be asked that aren't in the archives. My point to this dissertation is if everyone looked in the archives for information, noone would post there would hardly be a forum. OH Boy, this is not directed to you just my thoughts. I've learned Dell is Dell, I don't know the man, I do know that his replies come off harsh sometimes, but he does seem to know his N's. Don't get flustered. I hope all you fellow N'ers have a Merry Christmas. Happy Tractoring

That is Dell he has been that way since he has been on here take it or leave it that is just how he is. To me it does not matter if you like him or the way he is or not that is just how it is

Some people sure are thin skinned. Come on guys man up. I actually learned by reading my manual too, but I still have questions and have never been left high and dry for an answer here even if I didnt understand what I read.

Everyone hasn't got the same interests in tractors as others, so they don't remember every thing. Some know the tractors inside out , others aren't even sure where ther manuals are until they need to repair something and then maybe look it up or maybe don't even have one. Sometimes it is just easier to just ask , it shouldn't be a know everything for all , and to ask I don't think is wrong. In my profession (driving bus )if you don't mind answering stupid questions, you will get along fine. Example do you go downtown? if you answer " read the sign " and get upset, you will not get along with people , it is easier just to answer everyone , if necessary one after the other" Yes I go downtown". You learn these tricks, with dealing with the public, some people are blind or can't see .It is easier to be nice and you you get along better, have patience. Merry Christmas to all

I very rarely post but I do read all posts. I am aware now of Dell's habits and expertise when replying to questions. More often than not though he comes off sounding rude and self-important. Forum communication, e-mail and instant messaging also do not convey all the nuances that other forms of communication allow so it's easy to get the wrong meanings.
Still it doesn't matter how knowledgeable a person is or how many posts he writes. Rude is rude and that is the case here. Most of us would kick our kid's a**es if they acted this way. Why is it okay here?

2800 pounds is close enough.Like Dell I suffer no fools.I expect grown men to more than I did at 12 years of age. Some dont know nuthin, dont even suspect nuthin.

I bought a Ford 600 23 years ago.First thing I did after I drove it home.Ordered 2 used owners manuals for 7 bucks.Kept the one in best condition, sold the extra.Tractor cost 1300 bucks,I figured 7.00 well spent.I bought the ITT manuals for my tractors when the books cost 3.50 each.I have the Ford service manual and parts books. My friends have a 9n and an 8n that I work on at times.
