I have a 1963? MF 85 dsl. 277 continetal engine hard to find parts for cant seem to sell it every time i talk about it all people say is one of those. Is/was this tractor a piece of @#$%. The tractor needs tlc it works but needs tlc. if anybody knows anything of these tractors even interested in this tractor any info at all even if it sounds commen knowlage would help me out thanks

Not many people were fans of the MF85, 88, 90 tractors. Some have said they were some of the worst tractors Massey made. I have an MF88 E223 gas and its reliable and a decent chore tractor. I have the Jensales manual for 85,88,90 series tractors and it has a lot of information on continental engines. If you need something particular I may be able to find it.

What parts are you looking for? I have an 85 with the 242 gas. I agree parts are hard to find, but it's been a good powerful tractor for me.

I TOO HAVE A 85 DIESEL AND LOVED HOW SHE RAN MAKING HAY DECENT ON FUEL TOO BUT NOW I NEED A MOTOR JOB AS THE HRS WERE HIGH AND STARTING BECAME NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE BUT AS SPRING GETS CLOSER SLEEVES PISTONS ANDWHATEVER IT NEEDS WILL BE DONE AND MONTES IN CHICAGO HAS HELPED ME IN THE PAST AND IS VERY KNOGELABLE IN THE CONTINENTAL DIESAL
