You are seeing a series of E-mails between me and someone wanting to buy a tractor I am selling. Do you think it is a scam?
I changed all the names but my own.

Dude: i saw your placed advert, i will be glad to know if this item is still availiable for sale, please get back to me asap and state the last price you are giving it out last, thanks.

Lanse (me): it is still availiable, I only take CASH or travelers checks

Dude: due to my job, I am a marine engineer so i cannot get it, but my shipping company can

Lanse: So your company is going to send me $500 cash or travelers checks by mail? What is the name of your company

Dude: My company is _______ ________ ______, they will send you a check as soon as you get back to me with the information, thanks.

Lanse: What are you looking for a tractor for? I will take a check, but you will have to wait for it to clear, before you can come collect the tractor, until then it will stay at the storage place, so I would need a couple days to go get it. How are you planning to haul it out?

Dude: My shipping company will come over for the pickup, yes I would like pictures of it.

this is where we are at now what do you think?

Dude:

It turns out that the company he says he works for does not exist, atleast not online. I asked for a phone number. Should I notify the local police about this?

You must be new here. As soon as he mentioned a shipping company you should have just deleted the eamil from him and not even responded.

I think you have already wasted way to much time with this deal. But if you enjoy playing this game, send him a picture of some real piece of junk and watch him still try and reel you in. If he backs off, he just might be for real and you'd need to go back and fess up. There are idiots out there who will try and take your money, but there are also idiots who are just trying to get through life with the hand they were delt.

Allright, now, I asked him a bunch of questions and he said hes been a victim of internet scams before, and he backed down. I now figure he is for real, and told him its his if he wants it.

Flee....HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT HE IS BUYING!!!!!!! He didn't answer your question about why he wanted the tractor!!!!!!!!!

May get a check for double the price asked with a request to cash and send difference by Western Union to a out of country account. 2 weeks later your bank will tell you check bounced and you're responsible to pay back $. Previous scam warnings. RN

You are talkn to a crook. Mess with him/her/it if you want but don't send them any money or give them any personal info. they hate it when you waste thier time. don't hold the tractor for them, they ain't comen for it. they will send you a bad check for more than you are ask'n. Your are to send the extra money to some one else and when thier check bounces you are out what you sent out.

If you want to find out if he is for real just tell him Cash only when they pick up tractor. I don't think you will hear from him again.
