We've about beat this RFD TV thing right in to the ground. Hasn't anybody else got any stories today? I took a load of cattle yesterday,price was down about 3.75. Got a big muddy rutted mess from the warm weather and now it's supposed to drop in to the low teens for highs over the weekend. That'll be easy on tractor spindles. What's going on with everybody else,since there's nothing to watch on RFD.

Lets see.... I hauled some manure this weekend and brought down some hay in order to make more manure. My stupid horse was rolling in the snow and got all four legs caught in the cattle panel fence - no injuries.

I had a mare do that about a year ago righ after I bought her. I just happened to be out by the pen when she got fast. She didn't fight much so no injuries to her but took a bit to get her folded back to get her legs out. One front leg and one back leg.
I think once was enough for her to learn. She had never been around wire fence before I bought her.
Same type of thing happened with a hay sack. I thought I had it high enough but some how she got one foot/leg cought. She had two batches of road apples behind her so she had been there for a while but stood still until I got to her. That was a chore to get her out of by myself but she did not have a wear spot on her leg. When I first saw her I got a little sick feeling in my stomach but was for nought. I was sure she was cut. She didn't want to help lift her front. Both feet had to be up to get her high enough. If she would have been fighting I would have cut the sack down.
All's well that ends well.

I finally got my inside dual fixed on the 4840.

Since all 4 rears were worn down a little over half, when I ruined the inside one, I was worried about finding one that would match...

Happened to see a pile of used tires near an auction the other day - picked one out (that was a different brand than the Goodyears I have on) - gave the guy $65 (which I thought was cheap!) and hoped it wouldn't be too much different in size...

Just tickled to see it mounted - you couldn't even tell the difference unless you were looking!!

Other than that - just cold & windy out here on the High Plains...

Setting the layer barn back up now that it's washed and dry, making repairs. Hard to do with two youngens home sick from school. Colder than I'd like, Making a roast in the crock, and also tying to figure out what brand/type of corn and beans I am gonna plant this spring. Kinda hard being a cropping virgin!

Sold some hay and loaded it out. Then spent the next 2 hours or so floating teeth on the horses.
My daughter is here with Her two kids, two horses, 2 dogs, a rabbit and a guine? pig!
My grandaughters' horse is a small quarter horse mabey 14 hands and always full of pi$$ and vinigar. The second time she reared the vet chided me for letting go of her ear.I said when my feet get 2' off the ground, it's time to let go....give her another shot!
Daughters' husband is a Navy pilot flying Super Hornets. He's on tour in the middle east now until June, so thay are extending their usual xmas stay until the end of Feb. (actually, that don't bother me a bit!)

Not much goin on here. just sittin around wishin it would warm up enough to go lay on a hay bale in the sunlite. I do that sometimes and it draws the cats. Sure is relaxin nappin though. Have been contemplatin puttin new tires on the rear of the old ford. The ones on it been there for many a moon and have big cuts and dryrot but that didn't leak any untill I put new ones on the front. Guess the back ones got a little jeleous. Anyway youall keep warm and healthy.

My wife is due to have our first child February 8... but it could happen any day now according to the Doc.

Our house is supposed to be done this week, so we have to move in the next couple of weeks - hoping the baby stays put until Feb 8!

Weather has been nice, near 70 over the weekend, pretty nice again today. Yesterday was pretty windy, though.

Well, after I finished the chores I got the old farm truck out and plowed the church parking lot, a couple three neighbors, and myself. Gads, I hate plowing over soft ground. Got more than a little bit of sod and gravel in the piles. Tomorrow"s warm sunny day ought to firm up the mud, otherwise, the zero temperatures this weekend should do the trick... Old truck, (diesel) didn"t want to start Saturday, until it was plugged in for a couple hours. Today it finally started after lunch - plugged it in about 7:30.... Think I"m going to have to recheck the glowplug system again. DREAD!

Well, is cleaning out the cattle shed worthy of news? I moved a lotta shutt today, about six hours worth, the Pabst Blue Ribbon is good, on the third one, supper is just about ready!

plowed snow this moring with the JD 60 then loaded and delivered some hay. Spent all afternoon trying to get some round bales out to my cattle at a farm I lease where there is no tractor, trying to get the GMC 2500 to pull a wagon load thru the mud. Going to level of the mud and ruts tommorow at my home farm before the big freeze. Buzy every day now selling hay. I think I need hay season to start again so that I can have a break, no nap time this winter at all.

Couldn't believe how mine started this morning at 26 degrees. I'd been having to use ether below 50 til I put those new glow plugs in. The real test will be Sunday morning.
I got a pamphlet from Meidema Auctions recently that said Sacketts real estate sold. Scott Sykora was in the office over at St Louis Monday,but I was in a big hurry,the line was moving,so I didn't get the chance to ask him if he knew who bought it.

been cuttin locust fence post/firewood skidden them out with a mf-35 perkins diesel i always pull off the rear of a 3-point blade so i can keep that front end low to the ground.

I got laid off from work for the week due to the cold weather so I've been outside cutting up the wind damage in the windbreak behind the barn . Trimmed some trees by the drive , played with the dogs and hung out around YT . It hasn't been that cold - about -5 this morning - and it got to the upper teens . A couple pair of heavy sweats under the jeans and three sweatshirts over a t-shirt and I realized I was wearing to many clothes ~ Finally saw the sun this week , haven't had the pleasure for a long time it's been so cloudy .

I went out and started my tractor and soon afterwards. The top radiator hose bit the dust and anti-freeze was everywhere! Went to auto parts store and no hose like I need for mine. So off to tractor supply and had to order the hose and it won't come in to Friday or maybe Saturday. shesssssssssssssssssss Top of all that. I got a head cold and I feel bad. Kind of like an old coon dog who just run up a skunks butt! Yuky!

I fed the cows this morning with the 666. will likely have to do it all over again tomorrow. Muudy here too. Cut wood after dinner for this cold spell we are sneaking up on. 0 in a day or two the man says. I might have to feed with the M.

I watched the new Lonesome Dove movie on CBS, and didn't worry with RFD.

I pulled the head off my A/C Model M with water in the cylinders. Are the heads getting heavier or am I getter weaker. Anyway I may be able to save the motor. I found the rain entered the motor through the stack 90 degree where it connects to the manifold. Someone failed to install a gasket. Other than that not much else. Stan

Finished up a JD and took it down to my nice secure local museum. They store it for free and even put in a security system so I know it will be safe. What a deal.

Well lets see, chased cows and fixed fence. Then took the Super C out for some manure work and spent a couple of hours breaking up big cowpiles and making them into small cowpiles with the harrow. More fence fixing this weekend.

Need to clean out calf pens but now they need the extra pack. Its going to be thick in the spring.

Bits and pieces of this and that.

Sent out my bills for snowplowing for December. Wife's car must have seen the numbers and wanted a cut, it tossed a timing belt forty miles from home, now sitting in a shop recommended by a friend, waiting its turn for repairs.

Spent a couple more days and parts of a few more working on my "new" (1977) plow truck. A few more days down the hill working on a friend's barn. It has been leaning further and further every year, and he finally decided to try to straighten it up. This will catch me up on the land rent there for last summer.

Shipped maple syrup to Louisiana, man that is expensive.

Stayed close around home yesterday, oldest boy was home sick, now it feels like I'm getting it.

Let"s see.... Finished my rewire on the MF 175 last night and got it all put back together: rebuilt alt, new harness, new voltage reg, bat cables. Now I have working lights to work after my day job. Sod company should be here today to take all the bahia sod off of my 25 acre feild. Going to plow and disc when they are done (said it will take them three weeks to cut and haul it all off!)then I"m going to plant some bermuda hay for all the rich horse owners moving in around here. Rainy and cold her in North Florida (51 degrees!)
