What I Saw Today, Browns Ruritan

Well, this show was only 10 minutes from my house but I woke up to an attack of the lazies so, I didn't get there till around 10:00AM, Dan beat me by about 15 minutes as he also had a case of the lazies but he had to drive 45 minutes from Sardis Tn. Browns is just north east of Jackson off Highway 412 at the intersection of Browns Church Rd and McClerary Rd. The show is held behind the Methodist church across the road from the old school where the Ruritan holds it's meetings and today served white beans (they sold out of white beans) ruritan stew, hot dogs and hamburgers. It was hot and steamy. I wore thick Carhartt blue jeans and a short sleeve Dickies work shirt and was swimming in my own sweat within an hour. Even the airconditioning in the old school building where we ate didn't seem to be as cool as it should have been. Others were feeling it too. The plowing demonstration was cut a little short as people were heading back to the shade of the show area.

I was looking at the photos of the Adams Tn. show for last year and noticed a request for the origional photo of a 1933 Chevy truck as the owner's little girl was up in the back looking over the cab in a photo that I took in the parade. The request was made long after I quit looking at the photos. Now that I know about the request, I'll try to find the origional but, it will be difficult. If he had sent a request through the open email on the side I would have gotten it as soon as he made the request. If you want an original, tell me now and send a request through the open email so that we will make sure that you get it in a timely manner. Email is open,let me know what you think.

As always Walt, excellent pictures. The best was the red neck go cart. I have 2 friends into hit and miss and small engines. They need the blueprint for this so they wouldn't have to rent a cart!! Thank you.

I do not think I saw a moldboard there that scoured, and that's unusual as the soil here is sandy. Mostly the folks were using untested plows and in one case, a plow that did not match the tractor, They could not get the slat board plow to go onto the ground. Oh well, mabey better luck next year.

Aparently those first 3 Allis photo's, are of a WD. Just going by the straight gear shift stick. WD45 has a curved gear shift stick. I wish I could have been there. Thanks for posting all these great pic's
