what is it?

I"m restoring a case tractor. Not quite sure what model. There are a couple of levers that were not attached to anything when I started to take apart. If anyone could help it would be appreciated.

I for one would like to see some more shots from a bit farther away, the engine, front end tin work and rear shots would be nice. Thanks, mEl

Your bottom picture ts a speed liment. When you put it in reverse, it moves to liment how you can push the foot throtle

Looks like you have a VC if on 28" or 32" tires. Should have a flathead F124 Continental engine. The lever with nothing attached if it is on the PTO housing is for the mechanical cultivator lift. Should have a heel operated pedal to operate it. Have the same situation on my 1941 VC. My 1940 V and 1942 VC neither have this option.
R Aiken is right about the speed limiter. When in reverse, it limits the RPM of the engine to prevent too fast reverse speeds... Gene

So by "restoring" you mean that you are painting. In my small world restoring means mechanical repair then paint and to mechanically repair I have to know the model I'm working on so I can find the proper manual which would give me the answer to what function various parts perform.

Hello,

I"m not sure about the first Pic, but the second Pic Tells Me You have a V Series Tractor, most likely a VC, I"m pretty sure the VI"s did not come with Throttle (Governor Control) Showed in Pic #2 (Triangular Shaped) Metal Plate, I Own 2 VI"s and Quite a bit of Literature to back this up. The Triangular Plate in Pic #2 should be Behind not in Front of the Throttle Arm Sticking Up with the hole in it, When the Transmission is Placed in 1st or 2nd Gear the Triangular Arm Moves Forward Preventing the Throttle from Opening Up all the Way.

Just My 2 Cents but it Should'nt MATTER if Your Restoring or Painting as Long as Your not Scrapping. As Founder and President of a Local Show here in WV My Hats Off to Anyone Who Makes any Attempt to Preserve Forgotten Iron.

The tractor was disassembled to the rear axle and transmission. The rest of the tractor has been sandblasted and repainted, engine overhauled. It is now starting to be put back together. Didn"t have a problem with drive train.

Hi Glenn,
I think the serial plate should be on the dash, that will tell you what model you have. And if you take 4 #'s from the first to digits in the serial # that is there, this should tell you the year.ie.. 47-4=1943.Hope this helps, when you can, send in some pictures of your tractor,we will all enjoy. And thanks for your post. And welcome.

I am sorry for misinformation, your rite.I went and looked agin 1st and 2nd. It must be to liment PTO speed ?

Thank You very much. This is a great help. I bought a manual for a Case VC last year but it doesn't cover very much. I also can't seem to find photos to help.

WV,
I agree any saved tractor is better than a scrapped one, but in way to many years of collecting/using these oldies I've seen an awful lot of "fresh paint restorations". Used to work for a dealer who always claimed $50 worth of paint was worth more than a $500 overhaul (long time ago). His ads said "A-1 shape, New Paint".
