What kind of plant is this?

Volunteered under my gantry crane out in the field. The birds sit on the crane so they mustve dropped the seeds. Probably 18 inches tall.

Giant Allium (a species of onion). Also known as Ornamental Onion

Sparky got it. If you wait until it dies down you can dig up a bulb and transplant to your flower bed. Bulbs are similar to tulips and daffodils. They will overwinter if planted 4 or 5 inches deep( at least in southwestern Ontario).

Thank you. Going to try and save them. Four are growing in the field.

We have them in our garden in bloom at the moment. Bees and hover flies love them.
