What Length Trailer??

Looking into buying a new goosneck. What I know is i am getting a 22.5k gvw(give or take a few). My question is what length do you guys recommend? I mostly haul antique tractors, Dont want to be kicking myself down the road for one thats just a shade to short. 22' would be the shortest and 30' would be the longest i go. As far as a brand i was thinking PJ, Load max or corn-pro. Any input would be great, thanks and merry Christmas everyone!

I have a 30' ft tandem dual and love it. It has a 25' main deck with a 5' beaver tail that I can lift to make a full 30' flat deck. I regularly put 3 row crop tractors or 2 rows and a standard tread on this set up. TRUCKER.

I have a 20+5 gooseneck made by PJ, and it is a great trailer. If I had a 1 ton truck, I'd prefer the 25+5, but for 3/4 tons my trailer I have now is about all the trucks can handle anyway. I'd highly recommend PJ brand though. Well built and priced right.

I have a 20 and 5 Corn Pro 15000 GVW the rear deck raises up and makes 25 ft flat floor to haul hay or poles etc. Also my ramps are spring loaded. Love it especially the paint. But If I was getting a 20000 trailer I would get a 25 and 5. Remember you will be over the 26000 GVW and CDL territory.

i have a 34 plus 5 pro trak buiseness and pleasure use best trailer i have had. three ramps a must

Manufacturer's rating on the door tag, or actual, whichever is greater.
Of course, if actual weight is greater than manufacturer's rating, you have bigger problems.

There is much confusion and false myths when it comes to trailers. You have folks that have "always" pulled whatever they wanted, never been stopped or had an accident, and they keep on rolling.
Then, you have an agressive and money hungry DOT that will basically fine anyone they can to harvest money for the cause.
I have seen trailer builders stamp all kinds of weights. I had one that told me that even though the trailer was over 26K capable, they stamped all of them "25,900". That is the biggest myth of all.

How much weight do you plan to haul at any given time? How many tractors do you want to haul at a time? The options are endless, anything from $5000-$15000. I've got a pro-trak, I've always thought highly of trail king, donahue, and hillsboro but they are a little more expensive, I'd be scared to price a new trail king but you never find one of theirs as a gooseneck/fifthwheel it would probably have to be custom built.

I was told here in ohio it goes by axle weight just like a semi, measuring weight of all axles and adding them together.

26001 is the max combination weight, not just the trailer. So unless you're going to pull the 22,500# trailer with a 3500# pickup, you'll be in CDLville.

Around here, you can almost buy two PJ trailers for what one CornPro costs.

Only real difference I can see is the Cornpro has better paint.

What kind of truck are you going to pull this trailer with? Single or dual wheeled? 3/4 ton or 1 ton? A load like the one picture below in Ohio will get you a ticket real quick! What is your ball rated at? If your ball is rated at 15000# it dose not mater what the trailer is rated at 20000# you are only legal to 15000# and or the gross combination vehicle weight. I would find out what the laws are in your state first and what your truck is rated to haul and tow. Bandit
