What model is this?

Looked at a tractor today with a Ford loader. Tractor is 3- cylinder diesel, with 38" tires.

This is what I think is the serial number.....

B849996
and
8c27

Do these numbers mean anything? Anything you might tell me about it?

Thanks in advance.

Looks like a date code of march 27 1968.. and a basildon sn.. we will need the model ID code to tell you what it is.. IE.. 2000, 3000, 4000.. etc..

it will likely have a model ID beginning with 2,3,4 or maybee, B C D.. 4-68 is the break point from the numbers to the letters..

here's a link to t he codes I am referencing.

id your ford

I only saw the two numbers stamped on the metal. I'll have to go back and take a much closer look. Do you know what tractors came with squared fenders with the headlights in the fenders, and a three cylinder diesel?

If I had to guess I'd say it's a 4000 row crop given it's got 38's and flat top fenders... otehrwise someone's changed the fenders.
Get the model number off the hood tag if it has one or else find it stamped to the rear of the starter on the transmission housing. There will be three rows of numbers there.

I found this on Ebay and thought it might help.

As Rod and Awhtx said.. get the number.. don't just go by the fenders.. etc.. fenders are bolt on and can be swapped easilly. though if oem.. looks like it may be a 4000.. etc.

Thanks, that looks a lot like it. I'll get the numbers and get it straight. Then I'll post pics and see what the experts here think of it.
