Well the guy did cal me this after noon he told me he would call in the morning. Any how I loaded up the tractor and hauled it to him and he gave me a check. I figure its probably good since hes a school teacher in the same county I live in. So I guess I jumped the gun on this but I needed the $$ so I could move on to another tractor or 2 I have in the shop.

I would be a school teacher... my wife is also a teacher... we manage to live just below comfortably. I say that two people with 4-year college degrees should not have to worry so much about where the $$ is coming from to pay the bills. :x

I can relate whole heartedly. My wife and I are both school teachers as well! I just get a kick out of always hearing people talk about teachers getting paid for 12 months when they only work nine, or I'd like to have a job with summers off, or all they do is babysit kids and they get how much?
So, from one teacher to the next, we both know we're doing our jobs for reasons other than the paycheck, right!

Believe me I under stand. My dad was a college professor and yep they don't get payed any better then a school teacher. Only people that ever seem to have money are actors, rock stars and CEOs.

I've just had a lot of bad luck with people and checks. Last year it cost me around $100 just in bad check charges from my bank when I would deposit a check and have it bounce

Why would a simple 4 year degree be a guarantee of financial success? Most any tard can get a degree. I have had plenty of college grads work for me over the years. They have to be taught how to work the wheelbarrow and shovel though.

Of course I left out a few, crooks and people in office which are crooks any how. Bad police and lots of others that are closer to crooks then honest people. So I guess I'm saying if your honest you will never have a lot of money LOL

Funny thing was this guy never even saw my shop or knew where I lived. I probably could have stole the tractor form him and he almost could not prove it was or ever had been his but I'm not that way

M Nut please let me know where my "plenty of money" is. I've been a Shop Teacher since 1974 and I haven't found plenty of money yet.

It was meant to be sarcastic, just as Old understood it to be. I'm certainly not bragging about my wages, but you also won't hear me complain. I chose this career. I can choose to leave when I want as well.

Yep, I'm sure not in it for the money - just would be nice to be a tad more comfortable. And I certainly am NOT getting paid for 12 months while only working 9! - We can opt to have our paycheck split 26 times so it goes all year, or have fewer paychecks that only run the months we are in school. I chose to have a lump sum at the end of the school year...

About that baby-sitting... I'd LOVE to get paid baby-sitting wages, there certainly would be more money in it!

$4 per hour per child x 24 children = $96 per hour
$96 per hour x 6 hours per day = $576 per day
$576 per day x 184 days per school year = $105,984 per year

Heck, even at $2 per hour per child I would be getting more money!!

With all due respect I can't imagine why anyone wants to teach school. I have a teacher brother in Fargo and his life, mostly due to his income, is miserable. After a early start as a Geologist I ended up being Firefighter, Paramedic, and HazMat Specialist in surburban San Francisco. I have no regrets at all as far as experiences or income. Our Fire Dept, Health Dept and the Sheriff and Police Depts are loaded with ex-school teachers. We have a 7 year old girl, last year at Parents Night, the suggested donation for "activities" was $2500.00. That is per student, not class. Don't get me wrong, it is an excellent school with excellent results and enormous parent involvement. I just can't understand why anyone wants to work there when there are other choices. Most definately, on a teachers salery,you couldn't buy a house in that School District and sent your kids to that school. Just wondering what is the attraction ? If I wanted to be poor I could go back to SW ND and start farming. At least I loved that life style.
