What tool do I need???

Anyway, call it procrastination or whatever, but every year, I run my oil tanks empty and have to use fuel cans to run the heater until I have oil delivered. Then, when the oil is delivered, have to get the lines full again and flowing. Been just sucking the oil like a syphon hose, but it's getting old and the oil tastes worse and worse :roll: . Is there a vacuum pump with threaded fittings that would do the trick? Need to pull the oil about 10ft high and about 20ft to the heater (1/4 inch line). I can scrap something together if someone has dummy proof suggestions.

Any tips is appreciated.

Find an old hand primer pump off of a diesel fuel system. They make them that are designed to be put inline on a system between the tank and the pump. Below is a link to one place I found that has some electric primer pumps also.

There is a hand vacuum pump available from most auto supply's in their tool section.. You could connect it to a container and connect the oil line as well. Put a vacuum on the container and draw oil thru the line into it. I do not think drawing directly with the vac tool would prolong its life.

About 10 psi air pressure on the tank should bleed it out..

Auto parts stores probably have an electric fuel pump for older cars with a carburetor.If they dont want a lot of money for one of those you can maybe rig about any kind of fittings and lines on it you need.Put a valve on it to where it can be shut off when not being used and then when you need it turn on the valve,hook to 12 volt battery,pump away.GEt the heat going,shut off the valve until you need it again.Electric fuel pump,shut off valve 2 tees and some line should do it.
