What tractor would you use for 4500-6500 8mph. class. No turbos, 18.4x38 max. any cut, T/A OK, Alum. wheels ok, NO AGE LIMIT!

Oliver
John Deere
Farmall
Ford
MM
Case
Massey

S88 Oliver hands down. But dont go any heavier then that. Run about 560 cubes at 4000 rpms. You will run with anything in that weight class. If it gets tough bump it up to 4500 rpms.

whoops shouldve read the rest of your post. In that case push the S88 or 880 to 600 cubes and run the desired rpms. Still a very tough tractor either way.

4500 to 6500 is a wide range so here are my picks.

4500 to 5500: McD W40 and JD 4010. Red one has more

cubic inch potential, green one more rpm.

5500-6500: MM Gvi-G1000. Unmatched cubic inches,

newer models get more rpm.

Honorable mention: Case 6 cylinder gas tractors.

At 20 percent over rated rpm , no turbocharger

rules it would be tough to beat these tractors.

If you can get them down to 4500, I would suggest the newer Olivers (1650 and 1655)or the White 2-70 with a 12 port head on the disel block. Stock you will start with almost 600 more rpm. If you manage top keep the over/under (may be too much extra weight) you will have three shift on the go splits in each transmision gear if your rules allow shifting during the pull.

Oliver 88/Super 88 with a 310. Cheap, easy, and more than enough power. I would like to know how its even possible to get a 4010 down to 4500 and a GVI to 5500. Inquiring minds want to know

I have a 310 for an oliver, could use 880 or a 1650 would be a little easier to find and have the hydraul shift

Neighbor has a Farmall 544 with junk engine, what motor would bolt in fairly easy, Not sure but I think it is a 4 cyl.

My brother has a GVI LP gas that makes 5500lb class.Still has steel wheels and runs real strong..youtube video..search Sharon Springs Moline. its for sale also.

The good thing is there is no WINNER. I have counted the winners of the NATPA before. The winners are not constant! I am building a D17 diesel to USAP specks just to see if it is possible to challenge the big 5
