What you have.

This would apply to anything. When asking for help. It helps if we know what you are working on. In my case model and serial number. Of the generator. Just saying Onan does not tell me much. Onan has been making them since 1925.

I am sure tractors and related equipment would be the same.

This is not ment for anyone. Just a better idea of what we are working on.

Agreed!

But I have to admit, I'm guilty of it. I can see how it's easily forgotten. I'm working hard on a project, been at it for days, weeks, maybe months, it's all I have been focusing on. I then ask for help, to me it's obvious what I'm referring to and I forget that this isn't the normal local group that have probably seen what I'm working on. I often need that subtle, what ya working on question.

I agree.

Right up there with when someone describes their problem but refuses to answer the most basic troubleshooting questions asked of them.

Being specific about make/model when asking for help is always a good idea. I remember seeing a sign in the parts store, the wrong info will get you the wrong part every time.

Thats certainly true.

When I go to the local Autozone for a single 1156 bulb, they gotta know what make, year, engine and trans, whether or not it has AC or PS and if it is a 2 door, 4 door, short or long-bed before theyll even admit they dont have one!

You forgot tire size !

I remember some of the poem the parts folks had up at the IH dealer. It ended with ''I would be so happy and grin from ear to ear if they would only tell me, Make, Model, and year''.
