what you think?

Hi Darren,

1. does the engine turn?
2. how are the tires?
3. when did it run last?

there is an article on this site about what to look for on used tractors you might look for it. here in KC I paid $850 for a running side mount 8N with a 2 year old brush hog. My self imposed spending limit on N's is $500 for ones that will "run " . So far Ive only got 5 of them. Good Luck ( but i'd keep looking)

Well Darren if its close enough , check it out . It may have the sought after Sherman transmission or Everrett , or Howard transmission in it . Check it all out - fluids for water , cracks in block , tranny or rear end . See if it'll turn over with some coaxing . Try getting him to come down on price . If it excites you enough , heck buy it & do a restoration . That's how alot of show tractors came about . I paid that much once because I really wanted it & it was very close to home . HTH ! God bless, Ken

I have to agree with others... way too high! Last November, I let a '46 2n go at auction for $750.00. Paint was fair, rear tires were good and matched, fronts were weathered bad. Engine ran good, didn't smoke, 3 pt worked and to top it all off, it had a overdrive in it! There was only 2 of us bidding. I would have a hard time giving $400.00 for this.

The dash is not there, so what else is missing?? I don't think that I can see the air cleaner, battery tray may be gone, tool box was on dash so it is not there.

Only things I see note worthy are the hat rims (IF they are not rusted out!) and the front bumper - which looks like the original bent supports - but not good enough picture to be sure.

I got this 8N for $200.00 and the 640 for $500.00, both engines free but not running, so better deals are still out there, Paul
