Yeah,

The pipe rolls down over a lip on that left side. Then ya take the handle and continue turning the pipe rolling the tarp up under the lip, which tightens it.

Crank 'er on around to put a tension on it and hook across the back.

Hey! If I find a serial number, can you get me a for sure year of manufacture on this Gleaner? Memory tells me it is a '79, but I can't trust that line of info neither. :>)

Allan, it looks great. I have a 79 Jimmy long wheel base that could use some spiffing up when you get time. It has a 24 foot cattle box on it. Use to have a 28 foot box for moving stuff, but we cut off 4 feet of frame to fit the cattle box. Is a great truck, but haven't used it much since we got a gooseneck trailer. I may start again though as you don't have to wait to get unloaded at the stock yards. Always a big line of trailers, but very few straight trucks anymore.

The old truck had some "box" issues.

Searched and searched, but just couldn't find another box. Last straw was when I was haulin' wheat and got fed up with wrestlin' the darned throw-tarp.

Started in on the old sow and it took me about a month to rebuild the box, paint and hang that custom built tarp.

With as little of rain that you get, why do you need to tarp the trucks.. Is it if your prayers for rain were ever answered that you would be covered?

The tarp also keeps Allan from planting wheat all up-and-down the road between the field and the elevator. ;-)
